Years ago, Ford Racing had a famous tagline, “We Race, You Win”. We are reminded of that vision as we watch the Bronco R be torture tested in the 100+ degree heat of the Arizona desert. Ford Performance engineers, working with Geiser Bros Design, are testing modifications made as a result of lessons learned during the recent Baja 1000 race in Mexico. Fresh off the assembly line, Ford engineered parts performed flawlessly during that race, however, some of the unique components struggled to survive the race’s challenging demands. After spending the last few months making modifications, the team took to the desert to subject the updated Bronco R to a grueling 1500-mile durability test. Powered by a stock EcoBoost engine and transmission and bolted to a modified version of the T6 platform, the Bronco R is directed through the desert by a stock – off the assembly line – steering gear. These same key components will be going into production on the upcoming Bronco, proving that the “We Race, You Win” is alive and well in the desert. Check back for regular updates as we track the progress to 1500 miles and stay tuned in the coming weeks as we provide deeper insights and details.
